Parmesan Truffle Popcorn

Parmesan Truffle Popcorn

I recently came across a popcorn recipe I wanted to try. Unfortunately, by the time I got around to attempting it, it seemed a bit too involved and I wanted something easier to kick back and watch the Lady Gaga concert on HBO. I'll get around to the other recipe eventually, but this was really great in the meantime and satisfied my immediate snacking needs. It tastes more indulgent than it is and you feel like you're in one of those fancy theaters with a waiter instead of your barely furnished living room curled up on your big comfy arm chair while eating.

Parmesan Truffle Popcorn
(By Esi)

Makes about 3 cups of popcorn

1/4 cup popcorn kernels
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon butter, melted
1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 teaspoon black truffle salt

In a large saucepan or skillet that can be fitted with a cover, heat the oil and 2-3 kernels of popcorn over medium heat. Once the kernels have popped, add the remaining kernels and pop, shaking the pan constantly, until the popping stops.

Remove the pan from the heat. Add the butter, Parmesan, and truffle salt. Toss to combine and serve immediately.

How fun! I hate rosemary popcorn at a restaurant recently and I've been wanting to recreate it at home.

Looks great! You can do so much with popcorn. Earlier this week, I was making chocolate truffles. What to do with the leftover melted chocolate? Make chocolate-covered popcorn!

Ooh looks good! I wonder if I could use a little truffle oil in the pan and then use regular salt at the end?

You can't go wrong with anything parmesan...or anything truffle! What a fun snack!

Claire, you can absolutely use truffle oil, just be sure to be careful because it may burn easier.

I'm starting to think that it's the simplest recipes that turn out the best.

Or maybe it's just the recipes that involve butter and truffles and cheese?

Mmmm, sounds even better than the one from 479 degrees. Making it at home could be dangerous!

I never think of making flavored popcorn and it always sounds so good. Creature of habit. I need someone to smack me from my stupor.

I swaer. Commenting on this iPad is always an adventure. I write something and never knows if it sticks or not. Oh well. I think I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't tried flavors on popcorn. I need to snap out of it, right? ;)

we must have been separated at birth. I LOVE Parmesan on my popcorn. The truffle salt, however, is a bit overpowering for me.

Black Truffle Salt! I've never heard of it, but wow, it sounds amazing, especially on this popcorn.
